Mario and Vincent, the founders of PRANA CHAI, spent 4 years to travel the world. During the journey, they have both fallen in love with the authentic Indian taste – MASALA CHAI. After that, they started their own coffee shop at St. Kilda, Melbourne creating their own masala blend by gradually improving their recipe to promote the Chai culture. In 2004, their partner Koray joined the team and started their own Chai label – PRANA CHAI meaning the strength of life in Indian language.
As the spread of word of mouth, PRANA CHAI has been popular around the world and even created the Chai fever which has been recognized as NO1 Best New Product Consumable in 2015 Chicago Coffee Fest.
Masala means the “mix of spices "or “the cuisine with spices”. Masala Chai is tea with mix of spices. In Indian culture, spice is a common and unique ingredient for cuisine/ diet. And each household has their own secret recipe for Chai. And each restaurant/ shop also creates their own taste of Chai as their signature.
In general, MASALA CHAI at least contains ginger, card seeds, tea leaves and hot milk. Ginger improves the circulation and tea is viewed as Indian therapy. Thus, in traditional Indian culture, Masala blend is also treated as a daily therapy.
